BSO - Spring Into Summer
£13.00 – £27.50
4 March 2017
Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre
Presented by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
Goldmark’s colourful overture and Copland’s ballet about a 19th century spring celebration show us America’s musical takes on spring, and Bernstein follows the adventures of three sailors in New York in Three Dance Episodes from his musical On the Town. Launching into an exchange of cuckoo calls, Delius’ first work tonight is an arrangement of an old Norwegian folk song, while its pair, Summer Night on the River, contrasts in its atmospheric creation of tranquility. With an abundance of derivative works from film soundtracks to ballet choreographies, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is possibly the composer’s most famous work.
